Is it possible to be overwhelmed by love? Absolutely!
Let me share a story really quick,
As we all know churches have just now re-opened up and we are able to reunite with our brothers and sisters once again to praise God in unity. This past Sunday, I led praise and worship. At first, when I found out I was leading, I instantly knew the songs I was going to sing. God is so amazing and loves us so much that I had to give him my all. When I woke up Sunday morning, I felt really refreshed ready to take on the day. The time came when I walked in through the church doors and immediately felt this overwhelming peace and love, as if God was ready to receive my heart that afternoon. As I was worshiping, I sincerely gave it my all and couldn’t help but tear up because of how big and great this love fell upon me. It was really unexplainable, but it was an experience that I have desired for a long time. As soon as I was finished and gave my microphone to the speaker, I fell to my knees and cried my eyes out. I just couldn’t stop crying because I was so overwhelmed by the amount of love God was pouring into me in that moment. I’m really hoping that everybody gets the chance to have an experience like I did in some way.
The bible says in Ephesians 5:2 “And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
It still shakes me to know that somebody died for me. That God thought about me, knew that I would sin, knew that I would fail, knew that I would make mistakes, knew that I would disappoint him at times but yet he still gave his life for me all because HE LOVED ME. If that is not mind blowing enough let me give you something that might change your perspective of things.
Think of somebody you love the most, could be a spouse, parent, aunt/uncle, sibling, kids, friend, grandparent, pet, whatever. Think of the most loved one in your head right now, you feel the love you have for them? Ok, now multiply that by 10, 20, 30, 1000, infinity. That’s how much God loves us! It’s kind of crazy right, to think of God’s love in that way. We can think we love somebody so much that we would do anything for that person, but God topped it all. He loved us way more and died for us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Pretty overwhelming huh? There is no greater love than the love of Christ. Nobody loves us like Jesus loves us.
